How To Rent Textbooks Online

One great way to save money while going back to school is to rent textbooks online as opposed to flat out purchasing the books.
Renting textbooks online is the new trend with college and university students. In the past, the on-campus bookstore set end prices for student book purchases, marking up an all ready expensive product. Used bookstores moved next door to the campus stores, and students were able to save a bit of money that way.
Then, Internet web sites like Amazon and eBay showed up, and this further revolutionized the way students purchased textbooks. Renting textbooks online is just a natural progression of this evolution.
Renting textbooks in today's tough economic environment has made the new, innovative way to afford college even all that more attractive. A slew of non-traditional students are returning to school because their companies they have worked for are either downsizing or forced to layoff. Obama's incentives for non-traditional students to return school have not really made going to university any cheaper. Now, the average student doesn't just have to worry about tuition, but also the mortgage and the babysitter. Renting textbooks online can be a great way to off-set some of these costs.
A big complaint most college students have, is at the end of the academic quarter or semester, the books they bought that they now try to sell back to the bookstores, have lost quite a bit of their value. A textbook purchased for around three hundred dollars may only be worth fifty or sixty bucks at the end of the term. Or, worse case scenario, the professor decides not to use the particular textbook again, and the student can't recoup any costs on the textbook.
Renting actually saves quite a bit of money. For example, the third edition of Campbell Essential Biology with MasteringBiology list price is one hundred thirty-three dollars, and at the end of the term, if the student only makes sixty dollars back, the final price of the book is actually about seventy-three dollars. When one rents, the same book costs only around sixty dollars, saving the student over ten dollars.
Ten dollars may not sound like a whole heck of a lot, but rent textbooks cheap on a consistent basis, and ten dollars begins to add up quickly. Say the average student has to purchase five books, that's a fifty dollar savings, just because he or she rented as opposed to purchasing.
And renting textbooks is made all that easier online. Rent textbooks online, and one doesn't have to wait in the bookstore line.
